Four connected steps guide everything we do, from the first field visit to lasting community change.
Identify
Communities and areas where we can make a difference in cleanliness and in the valorization of natural and cultural heritage.
Collaborate
We trace the root causes of problems and address them through awareness raising, capacity building, and hands-on project implementation.
Understand
We make sure available local human, natural, and physical resources are optimally used to ensure sustainable development.
Create
We build together with community groups, civil organizations, and local and central authorities.
How we started
From a fishing harbor in Tyre, 2013
The idea started while working in Tyre in 2013. We recognized that a fishing community can create a clean environment — in its quarters and its historic fishing harbor — by reinforcing cultural identity and a sense of belonging.
It grew from appreciation of the crafts passed down by ancestors, and a shared belief in cleanliness as a way forward.
Who we are
Professionals rooted in community
We are professionals with experience in the private sector and academia. Our work at ACE relates to the need to empower local communities to value and protect their natural resources — with extensive experience in environment, agriculture (agro-ecology and irrigation), earth sciences, natural resources management, communication, and community development, resilience, and funding programs.
