This project strengthens eco-citizen capacities through education for sustainable development, delivered in part through a Lebanese ‘lithothèque’ — an online rock and geology library that makes earth-science knowledge widely accessible.
The work begins with identifying the natural assets and salient features of the region that call for study, then mapping the potential sites of these assets alongside the risks posed by human activity. This creates a clear picture of what needs protecting and where the pressures lie.
Building on this evidence, ACE runs awareness workshops with some thirty municipalities, equipping local decision-makers and residents with the understanding they need to protect their natural heritage and act as informed eco-citizens.
