Through the BioConnec project, ACE works to ensure effective management and governance in Sites of Ecological Importance and to expand biodiversity protection across Southern Lebanon. The work combines scientific study with practical conservation, linking habitats so that wildlife can move and thrive.

Field research lies at the core of the project. ACE studies and reports on bat species in Jezzine and the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, examines geosites and their associated biodiversity, and produces communication material on the importance of the substratum, geo-ethics, and geo-hazards. This evidence supports the establishment of the aspiring Jezzine–Shouf Geopark.

The team also carries out spatial analysis, 3D modelling, and renderings of ecologically significant areas, and helps develop a legal framework to protect biodiversity-rich trails. Together, these efforts strengthen the governance of ecologically important sites, raise awareness among communities and decision-makers, and advance landscape conservation and connectivity.
