This initiative aims to valorise the Ras El Ain Springs in Tyre as a significant geosite through eco-geotourism. ACE develops a solid scientific base and produces presentation and promotional material on the geological and hydrological resources of Tyre, with a particular focus on Ras El Ain.
By studying the springs’ water sources, the project builds a better understanding of the aquifers and their recharge areas, creating material that supports both tourism and research while informing efforts to protect the water supply. This includes examining the general geological and hydrogeological setting of the sources, their historical context, and the environmental and social pressures they face.
The initiative also identifies the factors that could pollute these aquifers and advocates for their protection. Through awareness activities, ACE encourages residents and visitors alike to act responsibly and to limit actions that contribute to pollution, safeguarding a resource that is vital to the region.
