A closer look
The Emergency Responsiveness Initiative in Tyre caza focuses on enhancing local capacities and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of preparedness and response mechanisms during disasters.
In Phase 2 of the project, the Union of Tyre Municipalities (UoTM) and its Rapid Response Unit (RRU) selected the old part of Tyre city, near the seaport, as a model area. The work builds on earlier efforts in the Al-Masaken area, where a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) container was installed and equipped with emergency personal protective equipment and other supplies.
The initiative aims to strengthen community resilience and disaster-response capacity by raising awareness and promoting preparedness across the different groups that make up the local community in the targeted area.
