The SWIM project introduces a remote-controlled irrigation system to address water scarcity and promote the preservation of available freshwater resources in the village of Mrusti.
The work began by reconstructing and rehabilitating three hill lakes to secure a reliable water supply. From there, ACE designed irrigation schemes to cover the whole village, bringing drip irrigation to all Mrusti lands through conveyance systems controlled automatically by soil-humidity sensors.
To deliver this, the project installed two new primary irrigation networks along with secondary and tertiary drip-irrigation lines. Together with the restored hill lakes, these systems allow farmers to irrigate efficiently, saving water while sustaining their crops.
