Under the “Livelihoods in Forestry (LiF)” project, implemented by the LRI, ACE delivered training sessions for the Anjar Eco Park team and local youth on Lebanese geology in general and the geology of Anjar in particular. Dr. Soumaya Ayadi, ACE’s president and geology expert, led a combined field and lecture workshop on geo-ecotourism for the eco-park’s tour guides.
The workshop introduced Lebanon’s major geological formations and notable geological events, with a focus on the geology of Anjar and its surface-water resources and surroundings. Guides explored the different geological assets present at Anjar and discussed how these features influence water infiltration and local ecosystems.
The training closed with a field trip in Anjar, where participants observed the geological assets they had studied and practised explaining them to visitors in a simple, accessible way — equipping the team to share Lebanon’s geological heritage with the public.
